This second book was disappointing at first as it seemed kind of random introducing a dragon and various fantastic creatures in the woods. Eventually the empowering message that each person has special traits reemerged. My only other grip is that these books would be better as one novel rather than three parts. If it is not at least 250 to 300 pages, it doesn't really have the wherewithal to stand on its own as a middle reader book.
