Not the first time that I've seen Batman's paranoia fire back for JLA. But still a good story can be always built on it :).Justice League: Tower of Babel is a great story that shows what can happen when some of Batman's safeguards are used against him. All of a sudden each member of The Justice League start to get taken from elaborate plans. Each plan is carefully executed in a way that uses the member's strengths against them in order to take them out. I loved the animated movie of this story and I was really looking forward to reading this. Luckily the animated movie had done it justice and it was as good as I was expecting. There was a few changes to how some of the JLA-ers were taken out and the bad guy was different so I did still have a few surprises to read. A really good and enjoyable read.
If you go onto the internet, and search for a theoretical fight between Batman and another character, there's a phrase which keeps recurring; preparation time. The idea is that Batman is such an amazing detective/genius, and can work out the way to defeat anybody with enough time. I'm certain this story is one of the key reasons behind that recurrent line of thinking, which I find to be a reductive conclusion to come out of such exceptional storytelling.Mark Waid writes this story of Ra's Al
Pros:1. Very interesting concept. Also, Ra's plan to plunge the world into chaos is impressively subtle. Tiny things making huge impact, leading people to destroy one another.2. Diana is such a badass. Everything she does just makes me whistle and go "damn" with awe. 3. Not gonna lie the League's methods of dealing with their incapacitation were pretty cool. I really liked the writing in this book (at least, the main story - the back-up tales, as usual, are forgettable). I wasn't too keen on the art, though, and that is what really held this book back, IMO. With a better artistic team, this book could've easily gotten 5 stars.I also think this storyline could've benefitted from 1 or 2 extra issues (and a better artist, but we've been over this already). Seeing Batman's methods of taking down his JLA teammates is always fun, but also involves some weak plot points.Talia and Ra's al Ghul's ability to fool the automated defences in both the JLA Watchtower and the Batcave were entirely too easy and not believable. Same goes for the take-downs of Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. The mechanics of Ra's al Ghul's titular tactic of messing with the language centers of everyone's brains on earth was a bit sloppy and counter-intuitive.Basically, this book
